Welcome to Muscliff…

Conceived and directed by local doctors and a local pharmacist in 1997, the Home was purpose built in response to the need for high quality nursing care in the north of Bournemouth.

Muscliff is run by a team of well trained staff to ensure high nursing and medical standards in a sympathetic, warm and friendly home environment.

The Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. Its aim is to make sure better care is provided for everyone, whether that’s in hospital, in care homes, in people’s own homes, or elsewhere.

Our home was last reviewed in November 2018 and was rated Outstanding. Click to view the latest review (2018).

The Gold Standards Framework

As part of this process, this home was the first in Bournemouth to have been accredited with the National Gold Standards Framework in Care Homes Programme, supported by local facilitators, the National GSF team and other colleagues.

The programme has 3 aims:

  1. To improve the quality of care provided for all residents.
  2. To improve collaboration with GPs, primary care teams and specialists
  3. To reduce the number of hospital admissions in the final stage of life, enabling more to die with dignity in the home, if that is their wish.

Muscliff Care Home is privileged to be awarded as a GSF Platinum Home.

Dementia Care

Muscliff is now accredited for dementia nursing care with the Bournemouth Borough Council. We recognise the memory problems that some of our residents have and we have embraced this by providing additional training and facilities. This includes our Sensory Room, Sensory Garden arrangements, Dementia Friendly Cutlery and Crockery, Memory Lane Corridor and Gardens and meaningful activities.

Training has included the Dementia Friends Course and Dr Gemma Jones Course. We have appointed two Dementia Care Champions and always focus on individual person centred care.
